A brutal double tragedy unfolded in Lukaiya village of Jharkhand&rsquo;s Giridih district late Wednesday night, leaving residents in shock and mourning. A man fatally stabbed his wife at her parents&rsquo; home and was subsequently lynched by enraged villagers as he attempted to flee.
The woman, Meena Hansda, had been married to Chhotelal Hansda for eight years. Their relationship had reportedly deteriorated over time, prompting Meena to move back to her maternal home. Attempts to reconcile the couple had been ongoing, and Chhotelal had recently visited her village in an effort to mend ties.
However, on Wednesday night, an argument escalated. In a fit of rage, Chhotelal allegedly stabbed Meena multiple times, killing her instantly.
As news of the killing spread, local villagers and Meena&rsquo;s relatives caught Chhotelal while he tried to escape. They beat him severely, and he died on the spot from his injuries.
Police officials, including Sadar SDPO Jeetwahan Oraon and Mufassil station in-charge Shyam Kishore Mahato, arrived at the scene soon after. Authorities confirmed that two separate FIRs have been registered &mdash; one for the murder of Meena and another for the mob lynching of Chhotelal. Legal action is being taken against those involved in the assault.
