In a horrifying crime echoing past brutal murders, the body of a 40-year-old man, Kishor Paikra, was found encased in cement and stuffed into a suitcase in Raipur&rsquo;s Indraprastha Colony. The suitcase, placed inside a large tin trunk, was abandoned near a slum under the DD Nagar police station limits.
Police recovered the body after residents complained of a foul smell. The victim's throat had been slit, and his limbs were bound tightly to fit inside the suitcase. Forensic experts suggest the cement layer was used to delay decomposition and mask the odour.
Two suspects &mdash; Ankit Upadhyay and Shivani Sharma &mdash; were detained in Delhi. A Raipur police team has reached the capital to bring them back for interrogation. Authorities have ruled out a love triangle as the motive but said the exact reason will become clearer after questioning.
CCTV footage revealed the duo transporting the trunk in an old car with fake plates. A woman on a scooty was also seen near the scene, raising further suspicion.
The tin trunk used in the crime was traced to a shop in Golbazar&rsquo;s Petline area. The shopkeeper remembered a young man and woman buying it early Monday morning under suspicious circumstances.
This chilling case bears a resemblance to a March murder in Meerut, where a woman and her lover killed her husband and concealed his body in a cement drum.
