In a tragic start to the new year, four sisters&mdash;Alia (9), Aksa (16), Rahmeen (18), Alshia (19), and their mother Asma&mdash;were found murdered in a Lucknow hotel on Wednesday. Police have arrested the girls&rsquo; brother, identified as Arshad (24), for the killings, which allegedly occurred over a family dispute.
Authorities at the Hotel Sharanjeet in the Thana Naka area of Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Lucknow discovered the bodies and alerted the police.
&ldquo;We received information from the Thana Naka area stating that five dead bodies were found in a room at Hotel Sharanjeet, and deployed a team of local police to investigate,&rdquo; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Central Raveena Tyagi said.
&ldquo;The primary investigation shows that Agra-resident Arshad killed his four sisters and his mother over a family issue. He has been detained and the bodies sent for a post-mortem. We&rsquo;re investigating further,&rdquo; she added.
The police, along with forensic teams, have sealed the crime scene and collected evidence. They say Arshad murdered his family members while they slept.
Oddly, the hotel&rsquo;s other occupants say that they did not hear anything at the time of the murders.
