Bengaluru police have arrested a man from Assam, identified as Shamshuddin, for the murder of his partner Asha, a mother of two. The gruesome crime came to light after Asha&rsquo;s body was found stuffed inside a gunny bag in a garbage truck on Sunday, under the Channammanakere Achukattu police station limits.
Investigators used CCTV footage and other evidence to track down and apprehend the accused. Asha, who worked for a private company in Bengaluru, had been in a relationship with Shamshuddin after meeting him at work. The couple lived together in the Hulimavu area.
Shamshuddin, already married with children in Assam, allegedly killed Asha by strangulation following repeated arguments. He then transported her body on a bike and dumped it in a garbage truck. Further investigation is ongoing.
This incident is the latest in a disturbing pattern of crimes in the city. On June 9, a software engineer, Yashas, fatally stabbed his married lover Harini 17 times in a hotel room, allegedly due to her inability to meet him after her husband grew suspicious.
Another chilling case from September 2024 involved the brutal killing of a woman named Mahalaxmi, whose body was dismembered and stored in a refrigerator by her partner, Mukthiranjan Roy, who was later found dead in Odisha.
