A Delhi court has framed corruption and criminal conspiracy charges against former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav in connection with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) hotel scam case.
Special Judge Vishal Gogne stated that during his tenure as Railway Minister, Yadav manipulated the tender process for two IRCTC-owned hotels, awarding contracts to Sujata Hotels. The court observed that the deal involved undervalued land parcels transferred to his wife, Rabri Devi, and son, Tejashwi Yadav, through co-accused businessmen Vijay and Vinay Kochar.
The court has charged Yadav under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Indian Penal Code for cheating and conspiracy. He has pleaded not guilty and opted to face trial in the case.
The charges mark another development in the long-standing IRCTC scam investigation, which revolves around alleged quid pro quo arrangements made during Yadav&rsquo;s ministerial tenure.
