She named three individuals in her complaint&mdash;Manojit Mishra (31, a former student), Jaib Ahmed (19), and Pramit Mukherjee (20), both current students. The survivor stated that Manojit had previously proposed marriage, which she declined due to an existing relationship. During the assault, the accused allegedly filmed the act, beat her with a hockey stick, and threatened to leak the video online. She said she pleaded to be taken to a hospital when she had difficulty breathing, but the accused ignored her requests. After the assault, she was locked inside the union room.</span></p>
<p data-start="1188" data-end="1731"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Police arrested Manojit and Jaib on June 26 near Siddhartha Shankar Roy Shishu Udyan. Pramit was arrested from his residence late on June 27. On June 28, security guard Pinaki Banerjee (55), who was present during the incident but failed to intervene, was also taken into custody. All four have been sent to police custody until July 1 by the Alipore ACMJ court. Chief Public Prosecutor Sorin Ghosal stated that, as per Supreme Court guidelines, all accused in a gangrape case are equally responsible, irrespective of individual participation.</span></p>

TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee's controversial remark&mdash;&ldquo;If a friend rapes another friend, what can we do?&rdquo;&mdash;has drawn public criticism. BJP leader Amit Malviya condemned the incident and alleged that Manojit was linked to the TMC student wing. In response, the wing&rsquo;s leader, Trinankur Bhattacharya, claimed Manojit was only a junior member with no active involvement in campus activities. State Minister Shashi Panja accused the Central Government of stalling the Aparajita Bill, which proposes the death penalty for rape convicts. She called it an example of political negligence toward women&rsquo;s safety.</span></p>
