<p data-start="380" data-end="718"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Mishra, who first enrolled in the LLB program at the same college in 2012, was booked in 2013 for a violent incident in Kalighat where he allegedly chopped off a man&rsquo;s finger. Following the charges, his admission was cancelled, and he remained absconding for over three years. After the case was resolved, he rejoined the college in 2017.</span></p>
<p data-start="720" data-end="1069"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Despite being accused of sexual harassment by two female students in 2018&mdash;leading to a partial suspension&mdash;and another complaint of harassment in March 2023, no significant action was taken. In December 2023, students accused him of bringing outsiders to the campus and attacking them, yet he still received a contractual position at the institution.</span></p>
<p data-start="1071" data-end="1245"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Insiders suggest that Mishra had close ties with a ruling party MLA who is also a member of the college&rsquo;s governing body, and allegedly referred to the legislator as &ldquo;uncle.&rdquo;</span></p>
<p data-start="1247" data-end="1551"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The controversy deepened further when it was discovered that the FIR filed in the gangrape case referred to the three accused&mdash;Monojit Mishra, Jaib Ahmed, and Pramit Mukhopadhyay&mdash;only by their initials &ldquo;M&rdquo;, &ldquo;J&rdquo;, and &ldquo;P&rdquo;. All three are reportedly affiliated with the Trinamool Congress&rsquo; student wing, TMCP.</span></p>
<p data-start="1553" data-end="1816" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Opposition leaders allege that this use of initials was a deliberate attempt by police to obscure the accused&rsquo;s political links. Legal experts also questioned the move, asserting that there was no valid reason not to mention the full names in such a serious case.</span></p>
