Karnataka Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against three minor boys for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl over the course of a week in Hubballi.
According to police officials, the accused boys are between 14 and 15 years old. The incident reportedly occurred when the girl&rsquo;s parents were away at work during the day. Based on a complaint, police took all three minors into custody and initiated legal proceedings in line with juvenile justice norms.
The Hubballi&ndash;Dharwad Police Commissioner said the girl was subjected to repeated sexual offences over the past seven to eight days. He added that the investigation is ongoing and that all procedures will be followed under the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act to ensure justice while safeguarding the rights of minors involved.
In a separate development, Karnataka Police have solved a shocking murder case from Koratagere near Tumakuru, involving the killing of a 42-year-old woman, Lakshmi Devi. Her dismembered body parts were found stuffed in plastic bags along a roadside in Kolala village last week.
The case surfaced on August 7 after locals noticed several plastic bags containing human remains and alerted the police. Further searches led to the recovery of additional bags, including one containing the victim&rsquo;s severed head. Investigators later confirmed that the body had been cut into 19 pieces.
Police formed a special investigation team that led to the arrest of the victim&rsquo;s son-in-law, a local dentist, along with two accomplices. Officials said the accused are residents of Tumakuru, and further interrogation is underway to establish the motive behind the crime.
