In a decisive move against the rising drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police have attached property worth ₹1 crore belonging to a known drug peddler in Srinagar.
According to officials, a two-storey house, along with its adjoining land, owned by Pervaiz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Takanwari, Karnabal, has been seized. Bhat is currently under preventive detention under the PIT-NDPS Act and is named in an FIR registered at Sangam police station under Sections 8, 20, and 29 of the NDPS Act.
The seized assets were confirmed to be proceeds of illicit drug trafficking. Acting under Sections 68-E and 68-F of the NDPS Act, and with formal approval from the competent authority under SAFEMA, New Delhi, the police attached the property. It cannot be sold, transferred, or dealt with without official clearance.
The accused has a history of drug peddling, especially targeting local youth, and is considered a serious threat to public health.
This action is part of J&amp;K Police&rsquo;s ongoing campaign to cripple drug networks by targeting their financial foundations.
