The body of a 26-year-old Indian student from Telangana, G Praveen, was found riddled with bullet wounds in Milwaukee, Wisconsin state in the US, on Wednesday. The exact cause of death remains unclear, and US authorities have assured that an autopsy will determine further details.
Praveen, who had moved to the US in 2023 to pursue a Master&rsquo;s degree, was reported dead after US officials contacted his family in Ranga Reddy district near Hyderabad. His cousin, Arun, said that friends in the US claimed Praveen was found with gunshot injuries, though no official confirmation on the circumstances of his death has been made.
Adding to the family&rsquo;s distress, Praveen had attempted to call his father early Wednesday morning, but the call went unanswered as he was asleep. The tragic news has left the family devastated, and they have reached out to local political leaders and MLAs for assistance in bringing Praveen&rsquo;s body home.
Before his postgraduation in the US, Praveen had completed his Bachelor&rsquo;s in Technology from Hyderabad. He last visited India in December 2024 and had returned to the US in January this year.
His death marks the third such incident involving students from Telangana in the US in recent months. In November 2024, a student from Khammam was reportedly shot dead, followed by another student from Hyderabad in January 2025.
Authorities in both countries are investigating the case, as the rising incidents of violence against Indian students in the US continue to spark concern.
