A postgraduate student from Hyderabad, Telangana, was shot dead in Dallas, Texas, sparking grief among his family and the local Indian community. 
The victim has been identified as Chandrashekhar Pole, whose relatives have requested the central and state governments to facilitate the repatriation of his mortal remains to Hyderabad as soon as possible.
Victim Background
Chandrashekhar Pole, a Dalit student from LB Nagar, Hyderabad, had gone to the United States on an F1 visa to pursue a Master&rsquo;s degree in Dental Sciences. 
He completed his postgraduate program and had been searching for a job for the past six months while working part-time at a gas station, according to his brother.
Shooting Incident
The tragedy occurred at a gas station in Denton, Texas, where Pole was employed. 
The gas station owner reportedly contacted the family, having had access to Pole&rsquo;s passport. 
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. 
His brother, Shivakumar, told the Indian Express, &ldquo;We hardly know anything about what transpired. We hope the authorities will tell us why he was shot at in the first place.&rdquo;
Family Response
Pole&rsquo;s mother, Sunitha, expressed her grief to ANI, stating, &ldquo;My son went to the US two years ago to complete his post-graduation. We learned about his death from a friend&rsquo;s parents. We have come to know that he was shot dead by black people last night. We request the central and state governments to ensure the safety of Indians and bring my son&rsquo;s body back home as soon as possible.&rdquo;
Political Leaders Condemn Incident
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy condoled the incident on X, stating, &ldquo;The death of Pole Chandrashekhar, a student from LB Nagar, in a shooting incident by miscreants in America has caused deep shock and grief. I pray to God that his soul may find peace and express my profound condolences to his family members.&rdquo; 
He added that his government would assist the family in bringing Chandrashekhar&rsquo;s remains back to Telangana.
BRS MLA and former minister T. Harish Rao also expressed condolences, describing the incident as &ldquo;heart-wrenching&rdquo; and urging authorities to take prompt steps to repatriate the student&rsquo;s body.
Consulate General Response
The Consulate General of India in Houston issued a statement on X, saying, &ldquo;We deeply condole the tragic death of Mr. Chandrasekhar Pole, an Indian student from Hyderabad, who was killed in a shooting incident in Denton, Texas. We are in touch with the family and extending all possible assistance.&rdquo;
Context
This tragedy follows a similar recent incident involving the Indian community in Dallas. 
Last month, Chandra Mouli &ldquo;Bob&rdquo; Nagamallaiah, a 50-year-old motel manager of Indian origin, was brutally beheaded in Texas in front of his wife and son following a dispute over a washing machine.
The family and authorities are now working to ensure that Chandrashekhar Pole&rsquo;s mortal remains are safely returned to India for the final rites.
