Married Hotel Owner Confesses to Murdering Model After Proposal Rejection
A married hotel proprietor has admitted to the brutal killing of a Haryanvi music industry model following a violent altercation that began when she refused his marriage proposal, Haryana Police have confirmed.
Sunil, a father of two who operates a hotel in Karnal, has been charged with the murder of 25-year-old Sheetal Choudhary, also known professionally as Simi. The victim's body was discovered floating in a canal near Kharkhoda with severe throat lacerations and multiple stab wounds.
Fatal Night Unfolds
The deadly encounter began on Saturday evening when Choudhary travelled to Ahar village in Panipat district for an album photoshoot. Police investigators report that Sunil arrived unexpectedly at approximately half past ten that night to meet his girlfriend of six years.
According to witness statements and mobile phone records, the pair consumed alcohol in Sunil's vehicle before a heated argument erupted. At 1:30am on Sunday, Choudhary managed to make a distressed video call to her sister Neha in Panipat, crying that Sunil was assaulting her. The call ended abruptly, and Choudhary's mobile phone was subsequently switched off.
Detectives believe Sunil killed Choudhary in his car before disposing of both the vehicle and her body in a nearby canal.
Elaborate Cover-Up Attempt
On Sunday morning, local police discovered Sunil's submerged car during routine canal patrols near Panipat. However, Choudhary's body was not inside the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Sunil had admitted himself to a Panipat hospital, spinning an elaborate fabrication about a road traffic accident. He claimed his car had accidentally plunged into the canal, that Choudhary had drowned in the incident, whilst he had managed to swim to safety.
Hospital staff became suspicious when Sunil's injuries appeared inconsistent with his account of events.
Body Discovery Confirms Worst Fears
On Monday, sanitation workers spotted a body floating in the canal system near Kharkhoda, approximately 80 kilometres downstream from Panipat. Police officers called to the scene immediately recognised the severity of the wounds inflicted on the victim.
The body bore distinctive tattoos on the hands and chest which enabled officers to identify the deceased as Choudhary. A preliminary examination revealed her throat had been slashed and she had sustained numerous stab wounds across her torso.
Complex Personal Relationships
The investigation has revealed a web of complicated personal relationships between the accused and victim. Choudhary had worked at Sunil's hotel establishment for several years, during which time they developed an intimate relationship.
Sources close to the investigation indicate that Sunil had recently proposed marriage to Choudhary, but she rejected his advances upon discovering he was already married with two young children.
Adding further complexity to the case, Choudhary herself was married and had given birth to her first child just five months ago. She had been attempting to establish herself in the competitive Haryanvi music video industry.
Police Investigation Continues
Sunil was formally arrested on Tuesday after intensive questioning led to his full confession. Officers are continuing to investigate the precise sequence of events and whether any accomplices were involved in either the murder or subsequent cover-up attempt.
The victim's body has been sent for comprehensive post-mortem examination, with forensic experts expected to provide detailed evidence about the nature and timing of her injuries.
Senior investigating officers have indicated that additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses, including charges related to evidence tampering and providing false information to police.
The case has sent shockwaves through Haryana's entertainment industry, where Choudhary was known as a rising talent in music video productions.
