A 58-year-old businessman was killed in a hit-and-run incident while cycling near his home in Gurugram&rsquo;s DLF Phase-II on Wednesday morning, sending shockwaves through the upscale residential locality.
The victim, Amitabh Jain, was on his usual morning cycling route inside the colony when a white Hyundai Santro hit him from behind around 7.14 am. The car sped away immediately after the collision, leaving Jain critically injured on the road.
Residents who witnessed the incident alerted his wife, following which Jain was rushed to a private hospital in Sector 56. Doctors attempted to revive him, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

CCTV cameras installed in the area captured the incident from multiple angles. The footage shows Jain cycling along the side of the road when the car approached from behind, suddenly swerved, and struck him. His damaged bicycle was later found at the site of the crash.
Police have identified and traced the registered owner of the vehicle involved. Teams raided his residence, but the driver remains absconding. Efforts are underway to track him down, and officials said the driver may have been under the influence at the time of the incident, though this will be confirmed only after his arrest.
A case has been registered against the driver for causing death due to negligence and reckless driving. Jain is survived by his wife; his son, who lives overseas, returned to Gurugram following the tragedy, while his daughter resides in Bengaluru.
After post-mortem formalities were completed, the body was handed over to the family for last rites on Thursday.
