In a major enforcement action, Ahmedabad Rural Police conducted two separate raids in Sanand on Saturday night, uncovering illegal liquor consumption at upscale venues in contravention of Gujarat&rsquo;s prohibition laws.
The primary operation was carried out at Glade One Golf Club and Resort, where a birthday party was being hosted by Ahmedabad-based real estate developer Pratik Sanghi. The gathering, attended by numerous individuals from affluent families, was held without legal permission and involved open consumption of alcohol.
Acting on a tip-off, teams from Sanand, Aslali, Changodar, and Bopal police stations, along with two independent witnesses, reached the resort located near Moti Devti. Around 70 to 80 people were found attending the event, which was allegedly organised without permission.
Breathalyser checks conducted on guests revealed that 13 men and 26 women had consumed alcohol. All 39 were taken to the Civil Hospital for blood sampling before being brought to the Sanand Police Station around 3 am.
Police seized five sealed liquor bottles and 20 empty ones from the premises. SP Omprakash confirmed the event was held for Pratik Sanghi&rsquo;s birthday and told&nbsp;Benefit News, &ldquo;An offence has been registered against the organiser and those found intoxicated. The liquor was brought in by his associate Meet. Such events will be monitored strictly going forward.&rdquo;
A range of high-end vehicles, including a Mercedes, BMW, Range Rover, and Thar, were spotted at the site. In one of the seized cars, officers found a board displaying "Youth BJP President", prompting further scrutiny.&nbsp;
Authorities also recovered beer, foreign liquor, hookah items, and cigarettes. The guests, many of whom belong to affluent families, were transported in four police buses and a private car for medical examination.
Among those identified at the party were Pratik Sanghi (organiser), Rushabh Dugal, Ritesh Vajirani, Viraj Vitthalani, Ninad Parikh, Atit Bajaj, Raj Agarwal, Nikhil Bajaj, Dushyant Goswami, Varun Jain, Amit Jogia, Priyam Parikh, Sajal Agarwal, Namrata Khattar, Ayushi Shah, Bhakti Rawal, Manushi Shah, Jhalak Patel, Avi Duggard, Meghavi Bakliwal, Rupali Sanghvi, Jinal Shah, Trisha Bajaj, Mandira Sanghi, Nupur Barot, Aditi alias Malvika Patel, Anjali Srivastava, Sneha Khattar, Kshama Vajirani, Varuna Jain, Meenakshi Kothari, Mita Khattar, Neetu Poswami, Manisha Agarwal, Dhara Arora, Vinita Chauhan, Mira Shah, Shareen Patel, and Prachi Goswami, most of them residents of Ahmedabad.
In a separate raid earlier that same day, Sanand Police targeted a villa in the Kalahar Blue and Green residential area, where 12 individuals were caught consuming alcohol. The guests included residents of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Mumbai. Indian-made foreign liquor and 11 mobile phones worth Rs 1.61 lakh were confiscated from the scene.
Those arrested in the villa raid were Jimeet Seth, Harsh Seth, Bhavesh Kathiriya, Pratik Jat, Kushal Prajapati, Deep Vadodaria, Rajan Soni, Ronit Panchal, Noman Sheikh, Jai Vyas, Mahavirsinh Solanki, and Yash Jat Sen.
According to Deputy SP Neelam Goswami, the operations were part of a broader effort to curb illicit activities in the region. She stated that teams had been closely monitoring farmhouses, villas, and weekend clubs where such gatherings had reportedly become frequent.&nbsp;
Both incidents occurred within 24 hours, highlighting increased enforcement of the Gujarat Prohibition Act. Legal proceedings have begun in both cases, with further investigation ongoing.
