The investigation into self-styled godman Chaitanyanand Saraswati, arrested for sexually harassing 17 students at a private management institute in Delhi, has uncovered fresh details. Police recovered his mobile phone containing multiple chats with women, photographs with air hostesses, and screenshots of display pictures of women, suggesting attempts to lure them with false promises.
Officials revealed that Saraswati was confronted with two women aides, both employees at the institute, who allegedly threatened victims and forced them to delete objectionable messages. The aides are now under questioning for their role in the case.
Saraswati, 62, is the former chairman of the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management Research in Vasant Kunj. He has multiple FIRs filed against him for molestation, cheating, and forgery. Police said he had been absconding for nearly a month, frequently changing his appearance and hideouts, before being arrested in Agra.
Apart from the harassment allegations, Saraswati is accused of financial irregularities involving a trust worth ₹122 crore. He has been taken to the institute campus to identify locations where he allegedly summoned victims.
Investigators report that the godman has shown no remorse and has been uncooperative, offering evasive replies even when confronted with digital evidence and documents. Despite repeated questioning, he continues to mislead officers, complicating the ongoing probe.
