<p data-start="125" data-end="324"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Filmmaker Manish Gupta, known for directing films such as 420 IPC, has been booked by Mumbai Police for allegedly stabbing his former driver following a dispute over unpaid salary.</span></p>
<p data-start="326" data-end="535"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The complaint, filed by 32-year-old driver Rajibul Islam Lashkar at Versova Police Station, alleges that the incident occurred on Thursday night around 8:30 p.m. at Gupta's office in the Sagar Sanjog building.</span></p>
<p data-start="537" data-end="907"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Lashkar claimed that Gupta attacked him with a kitchen knife during a heated argument regarding pending salary for May. According to the complaint, Gupta had fired him on May 30 without clearing the dues. The driver said he suffered an injury to the right side of his abdomen and managed to escape, later taking an autorickshaw to a hospital in Vile Parle for treatment.</span></p>
<p data-start="909" data-end="1212"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Gupta&rsquo;s lawyer, Dinesh Tiwari, denied the allegations, calling the case fabricated and part of an extortion attempt. Tiwari maintained that no stabbing took place and said they would present physical and circumstantial evidence to show that Gupta was not at the scene when the alleged incident occurred.</span></p>
<p data-start="1214" data-end="1483"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Police have registered an FIR under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges related to voluntarily causing grievous hurt and intentional provocation. CCTV footage from in and around the building is being examined as part of the investigation.</span></p>
<p data-start="1485" data-end="1688"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The driver, who had been employed by Gupta for the past three years with a monthly salary of ₹23,000, said he returned to work on June 4 and demanded his salary on June 5, which led to the confrontation.</span></p>
