Mob ties 45-year-old to tree, beats him to death; nine accused named in FIR
A 45-year-old farmer was brutally beaten to death by a mob in Gujarat&rsquo;s Amreli district on suspicion of having illicit relations, police said on Sunday. The incident occurred in Madhada village of Savarkundla taluka, where the victim was attacked by a group of nine individuals.
According to police sources, the deceased, identified as Parshottambhai alias Sanabhai Gohil, a resident of Virdi village, had been cultivating leased land in Madhada. On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly tied him to a tree using ropes and assaulted him with iron pipes, wooden sticks, and axes.
The farmer was left severely injured and later shifted to the Civil Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police were alerted to the scene shortly after the incident. The victim&rsquo;s brother lodged a formal complaint at Savarkundla Rural Police Station, naming nine individuals in connection with the attack.
Senior officers confirmed that a case of murder has been registered. Multiple teams have been deployed to trace and arrest the accused. Preliminary investigation suggests the crime was motivated by personal enmity and suspicions of an extramarital affair.
Further investigation is underway.
