A 23-year-old man identified as Rohit Singh was killed and two others were injured after a speeding Mercedes crashed near Ambience Mall in Delhi&rsquo;s Vasant Kunj area on Sunday, police officials said.
Rohit and the two injured victims, all employees of the French bakery-caf&eacute; Paul in Ambience Mall, had stepped out after completing their shifts when the vehicle struck them. 
The driver, Shivam Arora, has been detained. 
According to police, Arora was returning from his wedding reception accompanied by his wife and brother when the accident occurred.
Rohit, who hailed from Chamoli in Uttarakhand, has been identified as the sole fatality. 
His family is travelling to Delhi after receiving news of the incident. 
His uncle, Balwant, described Rohit as the &ldquo;sole breadwinner of the family&rdquo;.
"His mother is in shock. He was very hardworking and worked as a chef. We didn&rsquo;t know this would happen. We last spoke to him last week. He had promised to take leave and come visit us. Now, what will I tell his parents?" he said, adding that the family is seeking strict action against the driver.
&ldquo;Today, (without Rohit), we don't know how to handle anything. He was just standing there waiting for a ride home. The SUV driver destroyed all our dreams,&rdquo; he further said.
Police officials said Arora, a software engineer employed at an American multinational technology company, was medically examined to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. 
They confirmed that &ldquo;no alcohol was found in his blood&rdquo;.
Arora has been booked under Sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). 
Police said the investigation is underway.
