The Gandhinagar Police have registered an FIR against three individuals, including a man posing as a senior officer of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Government of Gujarat, for defrauding job seekers of over ₹1.07 crore through a fake recruitment scam.
According to the complaint filed by factory owner Manoj Patel from Odhav, Sajid Khokhar posed as a Class I officer at the Gandhinagar Secretariat, while Mahesh Barot acted as his driver and Santosh Rao, a schoolteacher, assisted in the scheme. Barot, known to Patel through business, allegedly approached him in April 2024, promising government jobs for ₹10 lakh per candidate.
The trio used forged Health Department appointment letters with fake seals and signatures to convince victims. Patel&rsquo;s family alone paid nearly ₹79 lakh, while others including Kamini, Hardik, Deepak and Vikas Patel contributed additional amounts.
When the promised jobs never materialised, cheques issued by Khokhar bounced, and his cover was blown, he was actually a teacher at Gramin Bharati Vidyalaya in Kheda. Police have booked the accused under the&nbsp;Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating, forgery and criminal breach of trust.
