The Enforcement Directorate carried out coordinated search operations across multiple locations in Surendranagar district on Tuesday, triggering unease within administrative circles and drawing considerable local attention.
According to official sources, separate ED teams reached Surendranagar and Wadhwan early in the morning to conduct simultaneous searches as part of an ongoing probe into suspected financial irregularities.
One team searched the official bungalow of Surendranagar District Collector Dr Rajendrakumar Patel, while another carried out a parallel opsurendraeration at the residence of Deputy Mamlatdar Chandrasinh Mori in Wadhwan&rsquo;s Rawalwas area.
The operations were conducted under heavy police security, with more than eight vehicles of the central agency deployed during the searches.
Dr Patel, a 2015-batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the district collector of Surendranagar. The early morning arrival of ED officials at the residence of a senior Class I officer reportedly created anxiety among government employees across the district.
Sources said the search at the collector&rsquo;s bungalow began at dawn and continued through the morning, during which officials examined documents, records, and other materials found on the premises.
Simultaneously, ED officers conducted a detailed search at Deputy Mamlatdar Mori&rsquo;s residence. Officials inspected the property and scrutinised documents as part of the investigation.
While the ED has not disclosed the specific grounds for the searches, officials familiar with the case indicated that the action is linked to suspected financial misconduct and possible undisclosed or illegal transactions.
Later in the day, the probe widened as ED teams also searched the offices of contractors and advocates in the town. Officials said these locations were examined to collect additional evidence and establish possible links related to the suspected irregularities.
No official statement has been issued so far on the outcome of the searches or any subsequent action. Authorities said further details are likely to emerge after the completion of the operations and a detailed examination of the materials seized.
