<h3 data-start="188" data-end="249">Doctor in Kerala Hospital Attacked by Grieving Father</h3>
A government doctor in Kerala&rsquo;s Thamarassery Taluk Hospital was grievously injured on Wednesday after being attacked with a machete by the father of a nine-year-old girl who had died of amoebic encephalitis in August.
The victim, Dr Vipin P. T., a casualty medical officer, sustained severe head injuries and was moved to a private hospital in Kozhikode for advanced treatment.
The attacker, identified as Sanoop from Aanapara, allegedly blamed the hospital for his daughter Anaya&rsquo;s death. According to officials, he entered the casualty wing with two children, demanding to meet the Medical Superintendent. When told the officer was in a meeting, Dr Vipin and two lab staff accompanied him to the venue. Sanoop then suddenly drew a machete and attacked the doctor, reportedly shouting, &ldquo;Isn&rsquo;t this the man who killed my daughter?&rdquo;
Anaya had been treated at the same hospital before being shifted to Kozhikode Medical College, where she died on 14 August. Tests later confirmed she had contracted Naegleria fowleri, commonly known as the &ldquo;brain-eating amoeba.&rdquo; Her brother was also diagnosed with the same infection later.
Police confirmed that Sanoop has been taken into custody.
