A shocking case of alleged hospital negligence has emerged from Delhi&rsquo;s Nangloi area, where a family mistakenly cremated the wrong body after a mix-up at a hospital mortuary. The incident occurred when two bodies, those of Pankaj Kumar from Prem Nagar and Bharat Bhushan from Nangloi, arrived at the facility around the same time.
Due to confusion at the mortuary, the family of Bharat Bhushan wrongly identified Pankaj Kumar&rsquo;s body as their relative&rsquo;s. Following post-mortem formalities, they claimed the body and went ahead with the cremation.
The error came to light when Pankaj Kumar&rsquo;s family reached the hospital to collect his body, only to find it missing. The mortuary staff then discovered that the wrong body had already been handed over and cremated.
Family members have accused the hospital of gross negligence, alleging that no proper identification or verification procedure was followed before releasing the body. Authorities have confirmed that a formal written complaint has not yet been filed, but an inquiry is underway to determine responsibility.
Officials are questioning hospital staff to verify the sequence of events and ensure accountability. Legal action is expected once the investigation concludes.
This is not the first such case; a similar body mix-up was reported in August when a Bengaluru tech worker&rsquo;s remains were wrongly exchanged in Odisha due to a labelling error.
