A 42-year-old man, identified as Subhashis Chakraborty, was found dead in a decomposed state at his home in Dhakuria Station Lane under Kolkata&rsquo;s Lake Police Station area. A suicide note was recovered from the scene, in which he reportedly stated that no one was responsible for his death.
According to the police, Chakraborty allegedly took his life on November 1. Preliminary findings suggest that he had been distressed after a breakup with his live-in partner of 14 years.
The incident came to light when residents noticed a foul smell emanating from the house and alerted authorities. Upon entering, officers discovered Chakraborty&rsquo;s body hanging from the ceiling.
Investigators are probing the circumstances leading up to the death, including whether the note was written voluntarily or to protect his partner. Locals said the woman often visited him at night but never stayed permanently, as they had no plans to marry.
Police sources revealed that the deceased&rsquo;s father had also died by suicide years earlier and that Subhashis had been living on his mother&rsquo;s pension income. Further investigation is underway, and questioning of the woman may follow.
