In a disturbing case from Bengaluru, two college lecturers and their friend have been arrested for allegedly raping and blackmailing a college student, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Narendra, Sandeep, and Anup, were arrested by the Marathahalli Police following a complaint forwarded by the Karnataka State Women&rsquo;s Commission.
Narendra and Sandeep were reportedly teaching physics and biology at a private college in Moodbidri town, located in Mangaluru district.
According to the police, Narendra initially gained the victim's trust by providing her academic help. He allegedly lured her to a friend&rsquo;s rented room in Marathahalli, where he raped her and threatened her to remain silent.
Days later, Sandeep also tried to assault the girl. When she resisted, he allegedly blackmailed her, claiming he had explicit photos and videos involving her and Narendra. Under pressure, the girl was taken to another location where Sandeep raped her.
Following that, their friend Anup also began blackmailing her, claiming he possessed CCTV footage of her entering his room.
The repeated exploitation left the girl traumatized. Eventually, she confided in her parents, who helped her approach the State Women&rsquo;s Commission. After counseling, the victim filed a formal police complaint.
Acting swiftly, the police apprehended the accused and began questioning them. Authorities suspect that the accused may have targeted other female students in a similar manner.
Further investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the crime.
