A 32-year-old man in Tamil Nadu&rsquo;s Coimbatore fatally attacked his estranged wife with a sickle and then posted a selfie with her body on his WhatsApp status, according to police. The accused, Balamurugan, remained at the crime scene in a private women&rsquo;s hostel until officers reached the spot and detained him.
The victim, 30-year-old Sirpriya, had separated from Balamurugan and moved with her children from Tirunelveli to Coimbatore. After leaving her children in the care of her mother, she began living in a women&rsquo;s hostel and worked at a nearby store.
Police said Balamurugan suspected she was involved with one of his relatives, leading to frequent arguments. After a heated phone call, he travelled to Coimbatore carrying a sickle, confronted her in the hostel&rsquo;s waiting area, and repeatedly attacked her. Sirpriya died instantly, while other hostel residents fled and alerted authorities.
Following the murder, Balamurugan sat beside the body and took a selfie, which he uploaded to his WhatsApp status along with an accusation. He was arrested shortly after.
