A disturbing incident of sexual assault and physical abuse has been reported from a private school in Bengaluru's Bannerghatta area. A Class 10 student was allegedly targeted by older students in a school hostel room.
According to a police complaint, the victim, who was new to the school, was continuously assaulted over four days, from September 3 to 6. The attackers, who are students from the second year of the Pre-University Course (Class 12), allegedly forced the victim to strip and dance. The abuse also included physical violence, with the victim being beaten with an iron hanger.
The victim's parents stated that they had initially reported a separate incident of ragging to the school principal and hostel warden. However, they claim no action was taken, which led the seniors to escalate their harassment. With the school administration failing to intervene, the parents were forced to go to the police.
A complaint has been filed against five students, the school principal, and the hostel warden. The Bannerghatta police are currently investigating the case.

This incident is one of several similar cases reported in Bengaluru recently. In June, a 21-year-old nursing student was allegedly raped by the owner of a paying guest (PG) accommodation. The owner, Ravi Teja Reddy, was arrested after the victim reported the assault, which occurred after she confessed to stealing gold rings from another resident. The victim had recently relocated to the city from Andhra Pradesh and was seeking employment.
Another case from November 2023 involved a college lecturer, Madam Kumar, who was arrested for sexually assaulting a student. He had lured her to a hotel under the guise of helping her find a part-time job. After the assault, he recorded a video and used it to blackmail her. The victim eventually filed a police complaint after enduring continuous harassment.
