Tensions escalated in Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Hathras district after a three-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in an alleged car accident, prompting protests, a road blockade, and stone pelting at a police station.
The incident took place around 3 pm in the Madheya locality of Mursan when the child, identified as Yash, was reportedly struck by a car. He was initially taken to the district hospital and later referred to a higher medical facility in Aligarh, where he died during treatment.
Following the news of his death, residents gathered outside the Mursan police station and blocked the Mathura-Bareilly road in protest. As the crowd swelled by evening, some protesters allegedly picked up stones from a nearby railway track and threw them at the police station.
Police deployed additional personnel from nearby stations to manage the unrest, and officials later confirmed that the situation had been brought under control.
Authorities said the car driver and conductor were arrested soon after the accident, and the vehicle involved was seized. However, protesters reportedly demanded that the accused be handed over to them.
In connection with the stone-pelting incident, three individuals have been identified and taken into custody, while further investigation is underway.
