A male cheetah cub from Kuno National Park (KNP) died early Sunday after being struck by an unidentified vehicle on a national highway in Madhya Pradesh&rsquo;s Gwalior district. The collision occurred in the Ghatigaon area, near the Shivpuri district border, roughly 35 to 40 km from Gwalior, officials confirmed.
The cub, around 20 months old, had strayed out of KNP and become separated from its mother before the accident. According to police officials, the animal was hit while crossing the road and died on the spot.
Following the incident, authorities immediately reduced traffic flow and enforced speed restrictions on the highway. Officials said another male cub also separated from the same mother may still be roaming in the area, as both had recently been spotted together.
Forest department teams reached the location and initiated a search operation to track the second cub, aiming to prevent any further mishap.
This is the second cheetah death in recent days. Earlier, another cub at KNP was found dead on Friday, just a day after being released into the wild.
