A bomb threat email sent to Jaipur&rsquo;s ESIC Hospital triggered a multi-agency response on Thursday, causing panic across the city. Signed in the name of 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab, the email also alleged a fake passport racket linked to former LTTE operatives.
The email accused Tamil Nadu IPS officer Davidson Devasirvatham of enabling the creation of fake passports through a travel agency allegedly run by his wife. It further claimed that Pakistan had recruited ex-LTTE operatives and was travelling in a &ldquo;bio-bubble&rdquo; vehicle equipped to trigger chemical attacks.
The sender claimed involvement in the alleged plot and warned of a possible nerve gas IED detonation inside the hospital. Authorities were urged to alert the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) immediately.
Security forces, including police, bomb disposal teams, and cyber cell officials, conducted a thorough sweep of the premises, finding no explosives. The case has been handed over to the cyber cell, given its similarities to a series of recent hoax threats in Jaipur.
Earlier in May, bomb threats targeting SMS Stadium and Jaipur Metro had raised similar alarms. A woman from Ahmedabad was later arrested in connection with those hoax emails.
Investigations are underway to verify the source and content of the latest threat and determine its possible links to previous cyber hoaxes.
