Punjab police have foiled a major terror plot by arresting two operatives of a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module and seizing a 2.5kg RDX-based improvised explosive device (IED) along with a remote control.
Counter Intelligence (CI) Jalandhar, acting on credible intelligence, apprehended the suspects in the Guru Nanakpura area while they were preparing to hand over the explosive consignment.
The arrested operatives have been identified as Gurjinder Singh alias Rinku of Athwal village, Gurdaspur, and Deewan Singh alias Nikku of Nikko Saran Kalan, Gurdaspur. Authorities also impounded their black Hero Splendor motorcycle.
Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav stated that the terror module was directed by UK-based handlers Nishan Jaurian and Adesh Jamarai under instructions from BKI mastermind Harwinder Singh alias Rinda. Preliminary investigations indicate that the IED was intended for a targeted attack.
Police have registered FIR No. 58 dated October 8, 2025, under sections 10, 13, 15, 17, 18, 18-B and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act at SSOC Police Station, Amritsar. Further probes are underway to trace the network&rsquo;s links and intended recipients of the explosives.
