A 21-year-old woman was allegedly stalked and brutally assaulted by a man in Bengaluru after she refused to enter into a relationship with him. The shocking incident, which occurred on December 22, was captured on CCTV and has sparked widespread concern over public safety.
According to police records, the woman was standing near a scooty, believed to be an app-based ride, around 3.20 pm when the accused arrived at the location in a car. The man, identified as Naveen Kumar, is seen in the footage repeatedly hitting the woman on her head and back before dragging her along the road. Several people were reportedly present at the scene, but none intervened during the assault.
Investigations revealed that the accused and the victim had connected earlier this year through the social media platform Instagram. They remained in contact through calls and messages, during which Naveen allegedly pressured the woman to enter into a romantic relationship. This information has been recorded in the First Information Report.
On the day of the incident, the accused allegedly went to the woman&rsquo;s paying guest accommodation and confronted her outside before launching the attack in full public view.
Police have registered a case in connection with the assault and taken the accused into custody. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
