Bengaluru police are investigating a disturbing case in which a 14-year-old boy was hospitalized after reportedly being assaulted by his mother during a domestic dispute.
According to the boy&rsquo;s complaint, the incident occurred when he tried to intervene in an argument between his parents. He alleged that his mother pushed him, causing him to fall and injure his left hand. The boy further claimed that she struck him with slippers, scratched his chest and back, and even attempted to use a small knife against him.
This was not the first such incident. Just days earlier, on September 23, the teenager had allegedly been assaulted in a similar manner and had received outpatient treatment. Following the most recent episode, he sought medical help and later approached the police.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act as well as sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita related to causing hurt. Police have issued a notice to the mother to appear before investigators, and counseling is being considered for both mother and son.
Officials noted that while the child&rsquo;s injuries are not life-threatening, the repeated nature of the allegations has raised concerns. Social workers may also be roped in to ensure the teenager&rsquo;s well-being and to address the underlying family conflict.
The case has sparked discussion locally about the need for greater awareness of child protection laws and the importance of counseling in resolving domestic disputes before they escalate to violence.
