In a chilling murder that has shocked Bengaluru, a man stabbed his lover to death in a service apartment and spent nearly 24 hours with her corpse before escaping on Tuesday morning.
The victim, identified as Maya Gogoi from Assam, was found dead in an Indiranagar service apartment where she had checked in with the accused, Aarav Harni, on Saturday. Gogoi was employed at a private firm and resided in HSR Layout.
CCTV footage shows the couple entering the apartment normally on November 23. After the murder on Monday, Harni was captured on camera smoking beside the victim's body. He left the premises Tuesday morning in a cab.
Police, who arrived at the scene with forensic experts and a dog squad, are investigating whether Harni planned to dismember the body, given the extended time he spent with the corpse. Surveillance footage confirms no other individuals entered the room between November 23 and 26.
This incident follows a similar horrific case from September, where a woman was killed and her body cut into over 50 pieces by her lover, who later died by suicide in Odisha.
The Indiranagar police have launched a manhunt for Harni, who remains at large.
