A shocking case of road rage in Bengaluru has left a 24-year-old delivery agent, identified as Darshan, dead after being allegedly rammed by a car driven by a couple on the night of October 25.
According to reports, the incident began when Darshan&rsquo;s scooter accidentally brushed against the couple&rsquo;s car, damaging its rear-view mirror. Enraged by the minor mishap, Manoj Kumar (32), who was driving the vehicle, took a U-turn and chased down the delivery agent before deliberately ramming into his scooter from behind.
The horrific act, captured on CCTV footage, shows the car hitting the scooter and speeding away, sending Darshan and his friend Varun crashing to the roadside. Darshan was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators said that the driver intentionally veered left to strike the scooter. In an extended clip, the couple was later seen returning to the scene to pick up broken car parts, during which CCTV cameras captured their faces clearly.
Police have arrested Manoj Kumar, a Kalaripayattu martial arts trainer from Kerala, and his wife Aarati Sharma (30) from Jammu and Kashmir. Both have been remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
While Kumar claimed that his wife was not present during the hit-and-run and only came later, police are verifying his statement. The initial hit-and-run case was upgraded to murder after CCTV evidence surfaced. The Puttenahalli police are currently handling the investigation.
