Uttar Pradesh&rsquo;s Bahraich district is reeling under a series of suspected wolf attacks this month, with four children killed and 16 people injured &mdash; mostly adults, except one child. One child&rsquo;s body is still missing. 
The incidents are a grim reminder of similar attacks in the region last year.
The attacks began on September 9 at Paragpurwa village, when a child was killed. 
On Thursday night, a minor boy was attacked at Bhabhanpurva village, and the following morning a woman on her way to the fields was targeted. 
Villagers nearby rushed to her aid with sticks, preventing further harm. 
The attacks have occurred within a 15-km radius covering Mahsi and Kaiserganj tehsils, with Kaiserganj bearing the brunt.
Forest officials noted that the wolves&rsquo; behaviour this year appears different from last year, as the animals are now attacking during the day in addition to nighttime incidents. 
Bahraich Divisional Forest Officer Ram Singh Yadav confirmed the unusual behaviour, citing multiple possible factors.
Thermal cameras and drones deployed in the area have detected four wolves, though more may be involved. 
&ldquo;All efforts are being made to capture the animals, and teams are deployed across the affected 10-km radius,&rdquo; said Yadav.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is scheduled to visit the affected areas on Saturday and is expected to meet the families of the victims.
Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party president and former CM Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government on X, writing, &ldquo;Somewhere a wolf, somewhere a leopard, somewhere a python, somewhere a bull&hellip; For the atmosphere of terror that prevails in UP, will the BJP government do something about it, or just shrug it off? For those being attacked, aren&rsquo;t the marks on their bodies enough, or the wounds of those whose children are being carried away by the animals?&rdquo;
