A 23-year-old B.Tech student was found dead in his rented accommodation in Bhopal&rsquo;s Patel Nagar on Tuesday night, in what police suspect to be a case of suicide. The student, identified as Mudit Pateria from Panna district, was in the second year of his engineering course at a private college in the city.
According to police, Mudit's roommates returned from the market late in the evening and found the door locked from inside. When repeated knocks and calls went unanswered, they informed the flat owner. The group broke open the door and discovered Mudit hanging from the ceiling fan.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The Piplani police arrived at the scene shortly after being informed. No suicide note was found at the location. Mudit&rsquo;s mobile phone has been sent for forensic analysis, and his roommates and close friends are being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Mudit&rsquo;s parents reached Bhopal early Wednesday from Panna, approximately 400 km away. His body was sent for post-mortem at Hamidia Hospital, after which it was handed over to the family for last rites.
Piplani police station in-charge Chandrika Yadav confirmed that all angles are being probed and further details will be revealed once forensic reports are available.
