The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), along with the Daman Crime Branch and Vapi Special Operations Group, dismantled a major mephedrone production racket in a coordinated raid on October 2. Nearly six kilograms of the drug, 300 kg of precursor chemicals and equipment worth over Rs 30 crore were seized.
Raids were carried out at a sealed bungalow in Vapi&rsquo;s Chala locality, secretly converted into a drug lab, and at a farmhouse in Daman where active production was in progress. The operation led to the arrest of parole absconder Narsinh Patel, his son Dhruv Patel, Mohan Paliwal and three others, while two accused, including a chemist, are on the run.
Investigations revealed the network had been operating for the past few months, preparing consignments for supply to Mumbai. Police suspect wider interstate and possible international links. An NDPS case has been registered, and further arrests are expected as financial transactions and supply channels are traced.
