Army Officer Vanishes During Morning Walk in Madhya Pradesh
A serving Army officer has disappeared whilst on his regular morning walk in Sagar town, Madhya Pradesh, prompting a joint search operation by police and military personnel.
Lieutenant Colonel Pradeep Kumar Nigam, aged in his forties and stationed at the Mahar Regiment Centre in Sagar, left his quarters for his customary morning constitutional at approximately 6.30am on Monday but failed to return home.
Police sources confirm that military colleagues initially conducted their own search before formally reporting the officer missing to the Cantonment police station when their efforts proved fruitless.
Investigators have registered a First Information Report and launched a comprehensive inquiry into the disappearance. Search teams comprising both police and Army personnel are combing the area where Lt Col Nigam was last seen.
Officers are scrutinising CCTV footage from the vicinity in hopes of establishing the missing officer's movements and identifying potential witnesses or suspicious activity.
The investigation has also extended to questioning family members as detectives work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.
Lt Col Nigam, originally from Gwalior, had been serving at the Sagar posting for several months. His morning walks were described by colleagues as a regular routine, making his failure to return all the more concerning to those who knew him.
The case has been classified as a missing person inquiry, though police are keeping all lines of investigation open as they work to establish what happened to the veteran officer.
