<p data-start="226" data-end="474">In a dramatic late-night development, Bihar Police arrested Janata Dal (United) candidate and notorious strongman Anant Singh in connection with the high-profile murder of businessman and Jan Suraaj Party supporter, <a title="Bihar Election crime Duller Chand" href="https://www.benefitnews24.com/politics/jan-suraaj-supporter-dular-chand-killed/21702" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong data-start="442" data-end="462">Dularchand Yadav</strong></a>, in Mokama.</p>
<p data-start="476" data-end="851">The arrest took place at Kargil Enclave around midnight on Saturday, led by the Patna Senior Superintendent of Police, Kartikeya Sharma. A joint press briefing held at 1:30 AM by SSP Sharma and Patna District Magistrate Tyagarajan confirmed the arrest and stated that <strong data-start="744" data-end="851">two of Singh&rsquo;s associates, Manikant Thakur and Ranjit Ram alias &lsquo;Dimagi&rsquo;, were also taken into custody.</strong></p>
<h4 data-start="853" data-end="882">Background of the Murder</h4>
<p data-start="883" data-end="1164">The incident occurred on Thursday in the Mokama Taal area, between Bhadaur and Ghoswari police stations, where Yadav was campaigning for Jan Suraaj Party candidate, Piyush Priyadarshi. A violent clash broke out between rival factions, resulting in Yadav sustaining severe injuries.</p>
<p data-start="1166" data-end="1286">According to the post-mortem report, Yadav succumbed to cardiopulmonary failure caused by trauma to the heart and lungs.</p>
<h4 data-start="1288" data-end="1313">FIRs and Accusations</h4>
<p data-start="1314" data-end="1585">Four FIRs have been registered in the case. The first was filed by Yadav&rsquo;s grandson, naming Anant Singh and three others. Priyadarshi later lodged a complaint against six more individuals. The police have also lodged an additional FIR based on their preliminary findings.</p>
<p data-start="1587" data-end="1746">Authorities revealed that <strong data-start="1613" data-end="1638">a total of 80 arrests</strong> have been made in related cases of stone-pelting and assault on police personnel during the ensuing unrest.</p>

<p data-start="1786" data-end="2144">Known locally as &lsquo;Chhote Sarkar&rsquo; (the Little Lord), Anant Singh is contesting the Mokama seat from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s JD(U). He has a controversial history marked by criminal allegations and political dominance in the region. His arrest is expected to have a significant impact on the local political landscape, especially with elections underway.</p>
