A bomb threat sent to the official email of the Alwar District Collectorate early Tuesday morning led to a major security scare at the Mini Secretariat and prompted sharp political criticism of the Rajasthan government.
The email, received at 3.42 am, warned that RDX had been planted in the Mini Secretariat and that the building would be blown up by 3 pm on Tuesday. The message began with &ldquo;Assalam Collector&rdquo; and went on to issue the threat explicitly.&nbsp;
Authorities discovered the email around 7.00 am, following which immediate evacuation of all officials and staff was carried out.
ADM City Bina Mahawar confirmed the incident, stating, &ldquo;A threatening email was received on the Collectorate&rsquo;s official mail early in the morning. It read, &lsquo;Assalam Collector... RDX has been installed in the Mini Secretariat. It will be blown up by 3 pm on Tuesday.&rsquo;&rdquo;&nbsp;
She added, &ldquo;Following the alert, a bomb squad from Jaipur was called in. A manual search of the premises was conducted, and a cyber-team is now investigating the origin of the email.&rdquo;
Both main gates of the Mini Secretariat were sealed, and the building has since been converted into a high-security zone. Two fire brigades, a civil security team, and a large police force have been deployed at the site.&nbsp;
Entry to the premises has been strictly prohibited, and a comprehensive search operation is underway.
As of now, no explosive device has been discovered, but authorities confirmed that the investigation and heightened security measures continue.
Reacting to the threat, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Tika Ram Jully criticised the state administration, referencing a similar recent threat to the Jaipur Collectorate.&nbsp;
&ldquo;The recent bomb threats targeting the Jaipur Collectorate and now the Alwar Mini Secretariat have sparked widespread concern and fear among citizens,&rdquo; he said.
&ldquo;These alarming incidents have brought the crumbling law and order situation in Rajasthan into sharp focus. Lawlessness seems to be unfolding openly, right under the nose of the &lsquo;parchi government&rsquo; and the state and central ministers representing Alwar,&rdquo; Jully remarked.
He further stated, &ldquo;The authority and credibility of law enforcement appear to have all but disappeared, while the escalating &lsquo;jungle raj&rsquo; across the state is fostering a climate of insecurity.&rdquo;
Highlighting the public sentiment, Jully added, &ldquo;Daily threats and rising crime have disturbingly become the new normal. The public is increasingly living in fear, while the government remains passive and unresponsive. It appears the administration is paralysed, awaiting a signal from Delhi before taking any meaningful action. The people are left to fend for themselves under this new governance model of silence and inaction.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Law and order in the state lies in shambles &mdash; jungle raj prevails,&rdquo; he concluded.
