Actor Allu Arjun and members of his security team have been named among 23 accused in the charge sheet filed in connection with the stampede that occurred during the premiere of Pushpa 2 in Hyderabad in December 2024. The theatre management has been identified as the prime accused, while the actor has been listed as accused number 11.
The incident took place at Sandhya Theatre in the Chikkadpally area when a large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor during the special screening. The situation spiralled out of control, leading to a stampede in which a 35-year-old woman lost her life and her eight-year-old son sustained injuries.
Following the incident, police registered a case after a complaint was filed by the victim&rsquo;s family. Charges were framed against the theatre management, the actor&rsquo;s security personnel and others under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Investigators concluded that inadequate crowd management and lapses in safety arrangements contributed to the tragedy.
Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, in connection with the case and was released the following day after the Telangana High Court granted him interim bail. He was subsequently granted regular bail.
In the aftermath of the incident, Allu Arjun and the film&rsquo;s producers announced financial assistance to the bereaved family. The Telangana government also declared compensation for the victims, acknowledging the gravity of the lapse in crowd control during the high-profile premiere.
The filing of the charge sheet marks a key step in the legal proceedings, with the court now set to examine individual accountability for the events that led to the fatal stampede.
