In a horrifying incident in Kekrang Bartoli village of Lohardaga district, Jharkhand, three members of an Adivasi family were brutally murdered following accusations of witchcraft. The victims, Laxman Nagesia (47), his wife Bifani Nagesia (45), and their eight-year-old son Ramvilas Nagesia, were attacked while asleep by three villagers wielding sharp-edged weapons, including an axe and a spade.
After committing the attack, the assailants locked the house from the outside and fled. Reports indicate that the family had been accused of practicing witchcraft, a superstition that has led to several such violent incidents in rural areas.
The Jharkhand authorities have directed the prompt arrest of the perpetrators. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of superstition-driven violence in tribal and rural areas, calling for urgent awareness and preventive measures.
