Three persons have reportedly been detained for an attack on actor Saif Ali Khan during an attempted burglary at his family&rsquo;s Bandra home. Khan was admitted to Mumbai&rsquo;s Lilavati Hospital at around 3.30.
&ldquo;When the incident took place, all family members were in the house, including Kareena Kapoor Khan and both sons,&rdquo; according to the Mumbai police.
According to an insider, the actor was unarmed when he fought off the armed intruder to protect his family. &nbsp;
&ldquo;This happened in the middle of the night. He fought tough and saved from family being harmed and he got injured in the process. While the guy had a weapon... Saif had nothing,&rdquo; reports said, quoting an unnamed source.
Doctors have issued a statement later in the day describing two of the six stab wounds he sustained while fending off intruders as &ldquo;deep&rdquo;.
&ldquo;One (stab wound) is close to the spine.He is being operated upon by a team of doctors led by Neurosurgeon Dr Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr Leena Jain and anaesthetiologist Dr Nisha Gandhi,&rdquo; Dr Niraj Uttamani, COO of Lilavati Hospital,&nbsp;said.
Saif&rsquo;s team confirmed the attack and asked that the media and fans be patient.&nbsp;&ldquo;It is a police matter,&rdquo; read the official statement.
Kareena Kapoor Khan&rsquo;s team also issued a statement confirming the incident.&nbsp;&ldquo;There was an attempted burglary in Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan&rsquo;s residence last night,&rdquo;&nbsp;it said.
&ldquo;Saif had an injury on his arm for which is in hospital, undergoing a procedure. The rest of the family is doing fine. We request media and fans to be patient and not speculate any further as the Police is already doing their due investigations. Thank you all for your concern. Team Kareena Kapoor Khan.&rdquo;
