<p data-start="110" data-end="392"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In a series of coordinated joint operations, the Army and other central and state security agencies in Manipur have apprehended eight militants belonging to various extremist groups and seized 43 firearms along with a large cache of ammunition and explosives across eight districts.</span></p>
<p data-start="394" data-end="711"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">According to Defence officials, intelligence-led operations were recently carried out in Jiribam, Bishnupur, Kakching, Tengnoupal, Imphal East, and Imphal West. The operations involved the Army&rsquo;s Spear Corps, Assam Rifles, Manipur Police, CRPF, BSF, and ITBP, using specialised tools such as explosive detection dogs.</span></p>
<p data-start="713" data-end="981"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Among the recovered weapons were AK-47 rifles, carbines, SLRs, .303 rifles, INSAS rifles, shotguns, Pompi (improvised mortars), pistols, IEDs, grenades, and other war-like material. All seized items and the arrested individuals have been handed over to Manipur Police.</span></p>
<p data-start="983" data-end="1150"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The Defence spokesperson highlighted that these joint efforts underscore the security forces&rsquo; strong resolve to restore peace and order in the conflict-affected state.</span></p>
<p data-start="1152" data-end="1575"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Separately, Manipur Police arrested five more militants in the last 24 hours from Imphal East and West. These individuals belonged to banned outfits such as the People&rsquo;s Liberation Army (PLA), Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), and the People&rsquo;s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK). They were allegedly involved in extortion targeting elected representatives, including panchayat leaders, and educational institutions.</span></p>
<p data-start="1577" data-end="1936" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In other developments, a 51 mm ILLG bomb was safely defused by bomb disposal teams in Terakhongshangbi Maning Laithel, Bishnupur District. Additionally, a World War II-era unexploded ordnance was neutralized in Tengnoupal District near the Myanmar border following reports from local residents. Splinters and evidence were collected for further investigation.</span></p>
