<p data-start="132" data-end="393"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">In a major breakthrough against human trafficking, a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued 56 young women from the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in Siliguri, Darjeeling district of West Bengal, on Tuesday.</span></p>
<p data-start="395" data-end="636"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Two suspects, Jitendra Kumar Paswan of Bhatpara (North 24 Parganas) and Chandrika Kar of Porajhar near Siliguri, were arrested while attempting to traffic the women to other states under the pretext of offering them jobs in a mobile company.</span></p>
<p data-start="638" data-end="901"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Police have registered a case against the accused under relevant sections related to human trafficking. GRP Superintendent Kunwar Bhushan Singh confirmed the incident and said a detailed investigation is underway to trace other members of the trafficking network.</span></p>
<p data-start="903" data-end="1188"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">Officials believe the two arrested individuals are part of a larger trafficking syndicate operating via the North Bengal corridor. Most of the rescued women were from Jalpaiguri, Banarhat, Cooch Behar, and Kalchini in Alipurduar district, with many belonging to tea garden communities.</span></p>
<p data-start="1190" data-end="1362"><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The traffickers had reportedly promised the women jobs in Bengaluru but intended to transport them to Hosur in Tamil Nadu. Police have notified the families of the victims.</span></p>
<p data-start="1364" data-end="1704" data-is-last-node="" data-is-only-node=""><span style="font-family: georgia, palatino, serif; font-size: 12pt;">The operation was launched after a tip-off received by the RPF on Monday night.
