Tripura Police have launched a search after 18 Bangladeshi immigrants, who had entered the state illegally, escaped from a detention centre in Narsingarh, West Tripura district, officials said on Sunday.
The detainees, aged between 18 and 40, were previously arrested for illegally entering the state without proper documents. 
Police stated that the incident occurred when plans were being made to deport the infiltrators.
This comes days after six inmates escaped from the Dhamanagar sub-jail in North Tripura district, injuring a security guard with sharp weapons. 
Two of those escapees have since been re-arrested.
Among the latest escapees are Najim Uddin and Md. Rahim Ali from Churaibari near the Assam-Tripura border; Sunil Debbarma from Melaghar in Sepahijala district; Rosan Ali from Kadamtala in North Tripura; Abdul Patta from Nilambazar in Assam&rsquo;s Sribhumi district; and Narayan Chandra Datta from Feni district, Bangladesh.
