A 17-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Andhra Pradesh's YSR Kadapa district on Tuesday, triggering outrage and calls for justice.
The intermediate second-year student, studying at a private college in Proddatur, was reported missing on Monday. Her body was discovered on Tuesday morning in an isolated, bushy area near hillocks in Gandikota under Jammalamadugu mandal.
Police began a search operation after the girl's parents lodged a missing complaint at the One Town Police Station. The body was sent for autopsy, and forensic teams, including the dog squad and Clues team, were deployed to gather evidence.
CCTV footage revealed that the girl was last seen with a youth identified as Lokesh, who brought her to Gandikota on a motorbike. He has since been arrested and is under interrogation.
Police suspect the girl may have been murdered and are investigating whether she was sexually assaulted. Authorities are also probing if others were involved.
The victim&rsquo;s father, Kondaiah, claimed they had shifted to Proddatur to escape harassment by Lokesh, who had allegedly been pursuing the girl in the name of love.
The father demanded swift justice, calling for an encounter killing of the accused.
District SP Ashok Kumar visited the scene and is personally supervising the investigation. More details are awaited.
