Over 10 youths have been detained for the abduction of five minors and the gang rape of three of them&mdash;including a 10-year-old&mdash;in Jharkhand&rsquo;s Khunti district, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place on Friday night, when the girls were returning from a wedding ceremony. The police opened an investigation and recorded the girls&rsquo; statements on Sunday, officials said. The accused are being interrogated. &nbsp;
According to the statements given to the police, &ldquo;10-12&rdquo; youths dragged the girls into the forest. One of them managed to get away. She informed the village elders about the abduction. However, by the time the villagers reached the spot, the alleged rapists had already fled.
&ldquo;I was raped by three men,&rdquo; the 10-year-old survivor reportedly told the police. &ldquo;I was held hostage by seven brutal men and three of them raped me,&rdquo; an official said, citing another survivor&rsquo;s statement.&nbsp;
Superintendent of Police (SP) Christopher Kerketa said, &ldquo;The police were informed about the matter on Sunday. After recording the statements of the victims, the police have started the investigation. 10-12 youths have been detained and are being interrogated. All the accused will be arrested soon.&rdquo;
