In a major anti-drug operation, Kishanganj Police and the Special Task Force (STF) arrested two individuals near the railway station and seized 1 kg of heroin, estimated to be worth ₹1 crore in the international market.
The arrested were identified as Baliram Chaurasia from Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, and Lalita Devi from Muzaffarpur, Bihar. Acting on a specific intelligence input, a team led by SDPO-1 Gautam Kumar intensified surveillance and intercepted the duo at Kishanganj railway station.
According to SP Sagar Kumar, the accused were returning from Manipur with the consignment, reportedly on instructions from a person based in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. Police are withholding the name of the kingpin pending investigation.
A case under the NDPS Act has been registered, and authorities plan to send a team to Ratlam to trace the network&rsquo;s mastermind. The Kishanganj police have vowed continued action against narcotics trafficking in the region.
