The market capitalisation of six of India&rsquo;s top 10 listed companies jumped by a combined ₹1.62 lakh crore this week, riding on strong investor sentiment and a bullish trend in equity markets.
The benchmark Sensex surged 1,289.57 points, or 1.58%, reflecting renewed optimism across sectors. Bharti Airtel emerged as the top gainer, adding ₹54,056 crore to its valuation, which now stands at ₹11.04 lakh crore.
HDFC Bank followed with a rise of ₹38,504 crore, pushing its market cap to ₹15.07 lakh crore. Infosys, ICICI Bank, and SBI also recorded gains of ₹8,433 crore, ₹8,012 crore, and ₹3,213 crore, respectively.
In contrast, Bajaj Finance, TCS, Hindustan Unilever, and LIC lost ground. Bajaj Finance saw the steepest fall with a ₹17,876 crore dip, while TCS dropped ₹4,613 crore. HUL and LIC saw marginal declines.
Despite some losses, the broader outlook remained positive, with banking and telecom stocks leading the charge.
In the rankings of India&rsquo;s most-valued firms, HDFC Bank held second place, followed by TCS, Bharti Airtel, ICICI Bank, SBI, Infosys, LIC, Bajaj Finance, and HUL.
